Masks have been successfully used for skin clarification for thousands of years. Cellilux works by connecting to the dirt, toxins and oils trapped in your skin's pores so that when you wash away the clay, you wash away those other impurities too. It's best to wash your face with a gentle soap and warm water. That will take away any top layer of makeup and impurities. The warm water causes the pores to open, so that the Cellilux can bond to the toxins embedded deeply in your skin.

Pat your face dry. Then take a small amount of the gel in your hand and apply it with soft circular motion to get into the various pores and fine wrinkles of your face. The rule of thumb is; it should be thick enough that every pore gets some gel into it, but thin enough so that the whole mask can dry and therefore lift away that dirt and oil. Put on just enough so that you can't see the skin any more - but not so you can see a “thickness” to the mask.

Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes. Then simply use warm water and a washcloth to wash away the mask. The warm water keeps the pores open so that any lingering gel is removed.

Once you have completed applying and removing the Cellilux mask as directed, thoroughly spray the area with a final chilled spray of water. This helps the skin lock in the hydration and lock out the impurities by re-closing the pores, thereby creating a lasting youthful look.

Will exfoliation help the health of my skin?
The fast answer is YES – exfoliation will help the health of your skin! This is the fourth phase of the Cellilux healing and cleansing process.

Skin exfoliation using the Cellilux Glacial Mineral Gel improves the quality and tone of skin by assisting in the removal of dead skin cells from the surface (the human skin produces about one million skin cells per minute, which equates to over five billion skin cells per day). As our skin cells renew, old surface cells harden and lose moisture, and eventually detach to allow for new cells to come through (this process is called desquamation).

Desquamation also eliminates damaged and contaminated cells that carry pollutants and micro-organisms from the environment. These dead skin cells don't always easily fall from our skin, meaning they can dry and dull the skin's surface, and cause clogging and congestion. Through continuous use, these dulling skin cells are effectively removed, and newer cells are revealed for a fresher, healthier appearance.

Common Skin Problems

Acneic skin: Skin with acne is infected with a bacteria that causes your skin to produce five times more dead skin cells than other skin conditions, meaning proper exfoliation can have great benefits for acneic skin as they help the dead cells detach, preventing dead skin cells from clogging the follicle and contributing to the bacterial infection that causes acne. Deep Sea Minerals, in general, also create an environment in your skin where these disease causing organisms cannot survive and the antioxidants in the Green Tea and Açaí extracts make it impossible for these organisms to establish themselves.

Aging skin: When we are young, our cells renew roughly every 12 – 19 days. But as we get older, this process slows down, as the “glue” that holds our cells together becomes denser. The natural sloughing of older cells from the skin becomes more difficult, causing a build up that results in dull, thick skin with less tone. On average, cell renewal takes from 12-19 days in youth, 28 – 35 days in mid-life, and up to 90 days in maturity.

Exfoliation is especially effective on prematurely-aging and mature skin, as it stimulates cell renewal faster than the body can on its own. All the visible signs of aging, however, are due to nutrient and water deficiencies, and toxins that are trapped in the skin. Hyperpigmentation: This is an increase in color caused by either an increase in melanin, an increase in melanocytes, or from substances that add color by forming deposits in skin. Exfoliation helps shed these pigmented cells more quickly and will also help remove the dead skin cells so ingredients can more effectively penetrate hyperpigmentation at its source.

Dry, Dehydrated Skin: A lack of moisture in skin leads to gaps in the cellular barrier. Leaving skin feeling tight and stretched, many tend to overmoisturize, which sticks the older skin cells down, leading to a dull, uneven skin tone. Through exfoliation, dying skin cells are effectively removed, and hydrating ingredients can penetrate deeper into skin to help ease dehydrated skin conditions. However, the only substance that can hydrate is water. Oil based or chemical skin care products are detrimental to the health of your skin. And while it may give the appearance of “hydration” or a “glowing look”, they should not be used as they will cause premature aging. Your goal in skin care must be to make the skin healthy.
